The spousal visa is used when a marriage has already taken place outside of the United States, and you want to bring your newly wedded wife home. The spousal visa process involves Thai women being put on a waitlist, although compared to other categories it is much shorter. In comparison, the fiancée visa provides a 90-day period for you and your partner to get married on United States soil, so the only issue afterwards is to have your partner’s status adjusted to becoming a legal permanent resident. Both visas need evidence that there is a true romantic relationship between the legal resident and the Thai bride / bride to be.
Regardless of which option is ultimately chosen, they both have their pros and cons. Prospective couples should take note of each other’s circumstances in considering which option best fits their situations.
