What To Do When You Travel To Thailand

There are plenty of beautiful women in Thailand waiting to meet you.

If you’re a single guy, there are several compelling reasons why you would want to travel to Thailand. Perhaps you’d want to see one of the many golden and historic temples. Perhaps you’ve heard about Bangkok nightlife and want to experience it for yourself.

Or perhaps you’re looking to date some of the beautiful women in Thailand. You’ve heard a lot of good things about them and would like to meet them in person.

But before you set the date and book the tickets, consider this tiny complication.

Thailand is its own country with its own culture and its own people. There’s also a whole city full of things to do. Some of these things can be done with someone else, like a date or something of that nature.

What You Need To Know Before Going

Before you book a ticket to Thailand, there are a number of things that you need to know in order to have a good time in Thailand.

First up is the climate. Southeast Asia is hot and humid. If you’re not used to it, then it can be quite a shock. So travelers would do well to stay hydrated and wear deodorant while traveling throughout Thailand.

The second, and more important thing to know, is that Thailand has some of the strongest lèse-majesté laws in the world. Basically, the monarchy is sacred in Thailand. It may be acceptable to openly criticize and even insult leaders in some countries, but it is a crime to say so much as a bad word about the king, queen, and heirs. It’s the kind of thing that can land a person, even a tourist, in jail.

Languishing in a jail cell, sometimes for years, because you said the wrong thing about the wrong person, is going to absolutely kill your romantic prospects. After all, it’d be difficult to date someone while you’re in prison. Kidding aside, it’s one of the first things you need to be aware of when entering the Southeast Asian paradise.

What To When You’re There

So we’ve discussed the things you shouldn’t do in Thailand. But what about the things you should do? You know how to avoid a bad time, but what about entangling yourself in a good time, perhaps in the company of a beautiful woman?

• Visit Wat Pho: The country’s largest reclining Buddha is located at Wat Pho and, truth be told, large would be something of an understatement. The depiction is around 150 feet long and takes up nearly every inch of the building in which it is housed. Beyond the big one, there is an extensive collection of images of Buddha for the public to peruse. You, and perhaps a beautiful woman, could potentially spend hours looking over images of Buddha.

• Siam Paragon: Most of the time, people generally pack everything they need before they get on a flight. But there are times when something gets forgotten. Or maybe a traveler decides that they need to do some shopping because they’ve met someone and want to get their new beau a nice gift.

The Siam Paragon is a state-of-the-art shopping center so if you leave anything behind, you can replace it here. Or you can drop by if you’ve got a hankering for western-style fast food. Or if you want some indoor air conditioning as a reprieve from the heat.

• Chatuchak Market: Speaking of shopping, there’s also the Chatuchak Weekend Market. With over 15,000 stalls spread out over almost 35 acres of land, you can find basically anything in the market. Once upon a time, it was popular only among the locals. Nowadays, it attracts over 200,000 visitors every weekend. But this means that the market can get crowded, so it’s usually best to wear comfortable clothing - light T-shirts and shorts.

As an aside, make sure to bring cash. A lot of the stalls don’t take bank cards and it can be quite the trek to find the nearest ATM. And be on the lookout for pickpockets and watch out for your belongings lest they be stolen. They also have free maps at information kiosks should you need help with making your way through the market.

• Book A Dinner Cruise: A man’s gotta eat, right? Well, why not eat well while cruising lazily down a river? Go alone, or ideally, with someone else, and eat some good food while the bright lights of Bangkok slowly pass you by. Book a dinner cruise - Bangkok has plenty of them - and you can have exactly that.

• The Sky Bar: So you’ve got dinner sorted, but what about drinks? Do you want to go to a random bar? Or do you want to take your special lady somewhere that’s as special as she is? Well, you can take her to Sky Bar.

Located atop State Tower, one of the tallest buildings in the city, you’ll know Sky Bar by its distinctive golden dome.

• Lumphini Park: Well, if you want to take a long walk with a special someone or you want to have a picnic with them, then you can visit Lumpini Park. It also boasts an artificial lake where you can rent boats, so if you want to take a boat ride with your lady love, then you’ve definitely got that option.

• Jim Thompson’s House: Jim Thompson was an American businessman who is credited with almost single-handedly saving the Thai silk industry. At the very least, he contributed greatly to its revitalization as it waned in the 20th century as locals started to prefer Chinese imports. His house was constructed in 1959 and houses a diverse collection of Asian art, where it resides to this day.

After Thompson disappeared in Malaysia in 1967, the house on 6 Soi Kaseman 2, Rama 1 Road fell under the control of his namesake foundation under the patronage of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and became a museum where guided tours are available daily.

There are quite a lot of fun things to do when you travel to Thailand. You can do these things alone. But such things are usually sweeter when they’re done with someone special and you can find that someone special in Bangkok.
